The Mothershift Edit: Welcome and what to expect

There comes a point during maternity leave when things start to feel slightly unfamiliar. Not in a life-altering way, (apart from the new baby of course!),  but in the day-to-day details. The routines that once felt automatic shift, time moves differently, and the version of yourself you recognised without thinking becomes a little harder to pin down.

It’s something I’ve come up against more than once. After three maternity leaves, I found that while each experience was different, that underlying feeling was consistent - the sense that while everything around you has changed, you’re still working out where you fit within it.

Family of four laughing and playing outdoors in a grassy field. The adults wear earthy tones, and the children are bundled in cozy clothing.

The Mothershift was created from that space.

To help new mums access perks that make it easier to keep doing the things they love. And now, we’re taking the next step with the launch of The Mothershift: Edit.

It’s not a parenting resource, and it’s certainly not somewhere to be told what you should be doing, but something closer to a filter - a way of finding things that feel relevant to you again. That might be how you’re getting dressed, what you’re watching, where you might go, or simply how you’re choosing to spend your time.

Because while this stage of life comes with its own constraints, it doesn’t mean your sense of identity, taste, or curiosity disappears alongside it. If anything, those things just need a different approach.

What you’ll find here is a mix of considered recommendations, honest takes on what’s actually worth your time, and ideas designed to fit into real life rather than an idealised version of it. Some will be practical, some more aspirational, but all of it is intended to feel useful without becoming overwhelming.

There will be edits, guides, and reviews, alongside lighter cultural pieces and the occasional reflection when something feels worth saying. Nothing overly prescriptive, nothing overly polished, and nothing that assumes you have more time, energy, or headspace than you actually do.

The aim is simple: to create something that fits into this version of your life, while still reflecting the person you were before it.

And, ideally, something that helps you feel like yourself again.

I hope you enjoy it.
