Maternity leave completely changes how you get dressed. Time is limited, comfort matters more, and most outfits need to work across the house, the pram walk, baby classes...basically wherever the day takes you.

The good news is that it doesn’t take much to still feel yourself - and even one new item of clothing can be enough to make you feel put together.

These are what’s worth adding to your wardrobe right now, for style combined with ease - think pieces that do more with less effort.

1. Relaxed Blazers

Tailoring has softened, and the oversized blazer has become the easiest way to look pulled together without trying too hard. Throw it over leggings or denim and the outfit is done.

Look for:

  • Slightly oversized fit

  • Neutral tones like black, grey, or beige

  • Lightweight fabrics that layer easily

2. Wide-Leg Trousers & Jeans

Skinny fits feel dated right now. Everything has moved looser, which is good news for comfort levels. If you need one pair of trousers to see you through spring, opt for a wide-leg style that is flattering and easy to wear on repeat.

Look for:

  • Elasticated or soft waistbands

  • Mid to high rise

  • Denim or soft tailored fabrics

3. Soft, Feminine Tops

There is a clear move away from overly structured basics and towards softer shapes this season. Think floaty fabrics, subtle detail, and pieces that feel a bit more considered than a standard t-shirt.

Look for:

  • Light, breathable fabrics

  • Slight volume in sleeves or shape

  • Creams, browns, and soft neutrals

4. Statement Everyday Bags

Outfits are simpler, so accessories are doing more. A good bag can carry the entire look. Practical still matters, but style can be part of the decision.

Look for:

  • Oversized totes

  • Crossbody styles for hands-free days

  • Textured materials or standout shapes
